Who We Help

The NFHF helps fight breast cancer in two ways. We raise funds to support other breast cancer community organizations and we educate the public about the disease.

Supporting Community Organizations

We give the money we raise through events, donations, and memorials to other  community organizations that use those funds to provide breast cancer screening, treatment, and education to underserved women throughout New Mexico. In recent years, we have given more than $250,000 to breast cancer organizations around the state.

Our main fundraiser, the annual Nancy Floyd Haworth Memorial Breast Cancer Seminars and Luncheon combines a featured speaker with free educational seminars for the public. In 2009, seminars were well attended and the luncheon was sold out. NFHF once again awarded grant monies to local organizations for breast cancer projects.

The community organizations we’ve supported include:

The Anita Salas Fund – providing vital screening and counseling to women in need
People Living Through Cancer – providing support and education to cancer survivors, their families, and healthcare professionals
University of New Mexico Cancer Center – supporting statewide breast cancer outreach and education programs
YWCA Encore Plus — offering financial assistance to women who need mammograms
American Cancer Society
St. Joseph's Breast Cancer Resource Center

UNM Women's Mobile Health Screening Program Unit

Educating the Public

We directly educate the public about breast cancer by offering free seminars on risk reduction, screening, and treatment options.

We also provide funds for breast cancer materials to many public libraries and Indian reservations around New Mexico.
